Crimson Desert's Troubles Continue: Blocked Graphics and Absurd 120GB Update

Despite the initial technical hiccups on multiple platforms, we're working diligently to resolve these issues and ensure all gamers can fully enjoy Crimson Desert without delay.

The launch of Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert has been hampered by several technical problems across different platforms, directly affecting player access and gameplay experience. One significant issue impacts PC gamers using Intel Arc graphics cards. The game displays an error message stating that the hardware is unsupported when launched on systems with the Intel Arc A380—a budget-friendly card featuring DP4a technology for AI-boosted graphics and 2GB of GDDR6 memory, released in Q2 2026. Pearl Abyss has confirmed the lack of support for Intel Arc graphics in its updated FAQ. The company is advising affected users to seek refunds from their respective purchase platforms and has apologized for the inconvenience. Xbox PC app users have also encountered issues, with many reporting that the game fails to launch through the app—a problem not present in the Steam version. A temporary workaround involves launching the game offline, waiting for data synchronization, and then reconnecting to the internet. Console players haven’t escaped unscathed. While Pearl Abyss released a day-one patch addressing quick travel and inventory management problems (around 20GB on PS5 and PC), Xbox Series X/S users were forced to download the entire 120GB game again, negating the benefits of pre-downloading.

Indoor Graphical Issues Persist in Crimson Desert Launch Amidst Performance Concerns and Missing Features

Further concerns surround the game’s physical release, particularly for collectors. Crimson Desert, an ambitious open-world title starring Kliff and featuring both outdoor and indoor environments, has exhibited graphical issues indoors, such as visual noise and artifacts. A recent video suggested several solutions: using Cinematic or Ultra lighting instead of Max, choosing DLSS 4.0 over 4.5 to reduce noise, and running the game at native resolution with DLAA or DLSS Quality mode. Ray Reconstruction with DLSS 4.0 Performance reduces visual noise, but likely indicates a bug because it removes rain effects. Additionally, the inclusion of Denuvo anti-tamper technology has raised concerns among PC gamers about potential performance impacts. Crimson Desert also lacks cross-platform save functionality, meaning progress cannot be transferred between systems. The absence of console gameplay footage has led to speculation regarding optimization and performance parity across platforms. Users have expressed frustration with these issues on social media. On March 19, 2026, Cyber Farmer (CyberFarmerX) tweeted: "So disappointed. Made sure to leave work early today to play only to have to wait four hours for an update." These launch issues have resulted in a disappointing start for many Crimson Desert players.
