Naughty Dog Overtime Crunch Amps Up for 'Intergalactic' Demo, Sources Warn of Future Increases

Naughty Dog, the developers of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, reportedly required employees to work overtime to prepare a demo for Sony Interactive Entertainment. According to a report by Jason Schreier from Bloomberg (via Insider Gaming), this period of increased workload began in late October, with employees working up to 60 hours per week for approximately seven weeks, concluding in mid-December 2024. Anonymous sources who spoke to Schreier expressed concern that the overtime may suggest potential for increased workload as the mid-2027 release of Intergalactic approaches. These sources anticipate that the situation may worsen starting in 2026. The increased workload also required employees to return to the office five days a week, up from the previous three, which presented challenges for childcare and pet care arrangements. The studio will reevaluate its schedule after the holiday break, with updates expected in January 2026.
