The return of Samurai Pizza Cats in a video game is an announcement no one would have anticipated. The 1990s animated series that captivated viewers at Club Do and Youpi is set to make a comeback in 2026, thanks to Dutch studio Blast Zero, which aims to revive a largely forgotten license. Titled “Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past,” the game features an action-platformer adventure style reminiscent of Ganbare Goemon, with artistic direction that adheres to the original work’s codes and includes a filter that renders the image true to what we saw on our CRT screens, naturally in 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the studio managed to reunite the entire Japanese and American voice cast. For the French dub, however, this may prove more challenging as most of the original voice actors have regrettably passed away.
