Following Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest conference and Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, Ubisoft is now set to unveil its upcoming lineup over the next few months and years. The French publisher has traveled to Los Angeles to reveal several of its games, with Star Wars Outlaws being the first title showcased at UbiForward. Developed alongside Avatar Frontiers of Pandora by Massive Entertainment for many years, the adventures of smuggler Kay Vess are further detailed through these promising 10 minutes of gameplay. This provides developers the opportunity to demonstrate that it is indeed possible to leave a planet from one’s spaceship, traverse space, and land on another planet seamlessly.
This will enable the protagonist to navigate various exotic locations, similar to her companion Nix, who is useful for distracting guards while she hacks electronic modules. The video also introduces mentors who teach abilities that can be earned throughout the game; there are nine such abilities to discover across the galaxy. We cannot help but imagine a guest appearance by Han Solo, although it seems unlikely given that Qi’ra, Han Solo’s love interest, has been confirmed as a prominent member of the Crimson Dawn syndicate in the game. Flashback sequences are also anticipated to provide insight into Kay’s likely turbulent childhood due to tragic events.
Ubisoft announced during UbiForward that Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment alongside Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, is set for release on August 30 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game centers around the smuggler Kay Vess and features a ten-minute gameplay demo showcasing seamless space travel between planets. Players will explore diverse locations with companion Nix and acquire abilities from mentors scattered throughout the galaxy. There is also an appearance by Qi’ra as a member of the Crimson Dawn, hinting at a possible connection to Han Solo. Flashback sequences are expected to delve into Kay’s potentially tumultuous past.
