Crimson Desert Passes 6 Million Copies Sold, Next Chapter Approaches!
Crimson Desert's enduring success in early 2026, with over 6 million copies sold and 28,000 active players on Steam, demonstrates its standing as a major hit, even as the novelty effect subsides.

Crimson Desert has achieved another significant sales milestone, surpassing 6 million copies sold worldwide just 12 weeks after its launch. This achievement builds upon its initial success, having already sold over 5 million copies in less than a month. The game's strong performance positions it as one of the top successes of early 2026. The most recent million sales were recorded since mid-April. While the initial sales surge has naturally tapered off, this steady growth is expected for a game of Crimson Desert's scale, especially without major promotional events or expansions to reignite interest. The game continues to attract a significant player base, averaging approximately 28,000 concurrent players on Steam nearly three months post-release, a notable achievement for a new intellectual property. Pearl Abyss has reported a substantial 419% increase in company income attributed to Crimson Desert's success. The development team is actively working on enhancing the game, with plans for a story revamp and new downloadable content (DLC).
Crimson Desert Breaks Records, Unveils June-Sept Updates and DLC Plans!
Globally, Crimson Desert has sold over 6 million units in under three months. A significant majority of these sales, over 80%, originated from North America and Europe. The game also ranked second in U.S. video game sales for the year-to-date in 2026, according to market research firm Circana. This milestone was reached 83 days after the game's release. Pearl Abyss has outlined an update roadmap for Crimson Desert running from June to September. These planned enhancements include improvements to the game's story, new combat content, the introduction of cross-save support across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and various quality-of-life upgrades. Furthermore, DLC for Crimson Desert is confirmed to be in development. Since its launch, Pearl Abyss has consistently delivered weekly updates, aiming to refine the player experience. The upcoming June-September updates will focus on story enhancements, new combat features, cross-save functionality for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and quality-of-life improvements. The studio is also discreetly developing DLC, though details regarding its content have not yet been revealed.
