In contrast to the widespread layoffs and studio closures affecting the gaming industry, CD Projekt Red is expanding its teams and strengthening the development of its major projects. According to their most recent financial report, the Polish studio hired over 220 new professionals in the last year. Most of these new developers have been assigned to The Witcher 4, now the company's largest project, with a team that grew from 447 in November 2025 to 499 by February 28, 2026. Co-CEO Micha Nowakowski stated that the new team members are focused on implementing technologies showcased in the Unreal Fest technical demo throughout the game. Marcin Przybyowicz, the composer behind The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, is also returning for the new installment. The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, now known as Cyberpunk 2, represents the company's second-largest development effort, with 149 professionals working on the project. This is a significant increase from the 84 developers recorded in February 2025, even though the game is still in pre-production.
CD Projekt Red Expands Teams for Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, and New Projects with US$139M Investment
CD Projekt Red also maintains teams dedicated to shared services—including localization, quality assurance, data analysis, and motion capture—totaling 169 collaborators. Other projects in development include Project Hadar, a new intellectual property with an initial team of 26 developers, and Project Sirius, developed by The Molasses Flood division, which now includes 71 professionals after internal changes. This team growth is supported by significant financial investment. In 2025, CD Projekt Red allocated 513 million zlotys (approximately US$139 million) to future game development, primarily focusing on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, as well as longer-term goals. Following the success of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red aims to launch a new Witcher trilogy—comprising the fourth, fifth, and sixth games—within a six-year period. This investment underscores the company's commitment to this ambitious new phase for its franchises.
