Forget Angelina Jolie: See How the New Tomb Raider's Lara Croft Looks on Amazon's Series

Despite Amazon Prime Video's secrecy around the new live-action Tomb Raider adaptation, a recently leaked behind-the-scenes video offers a glimpse into the production. The unofficial footage shows Sophie Turner in action as Lara Croft on set amidst the production team, cameras, and microphones, recording an intense sequence in a forest and what appear to be ruins. The unedited images reveal Amazon's artistic direction for this new take on the iconic explorer. Turner's Lara Croft diverges from the classic version popularized by Angelina Jolie and aligns more closely with Alicia Vikander's portrayal in the 2018 film. This new vision focuses on tactical combat, with the actress's attire and aggressive posture suggesting a highly trained character akin to a special agent or military operative.

A Closer Look at Sophie Turner's Action-Packed Lara Croft in Amazon's Tomb Raider Series

The leaked video shows Turner wielding two pistols and tossing a grenade through a window during a battle sequence. Photos from the Tomb Raider set show Turner in tactical gear: khaki cargo pants, a brown sweater over a blue vest, a brown belt holster, black knee-high boots, neatly braided hair, a knife, and a small backpack. Reportedly, Turner has spent months training for these action scenes. Alongside Turner, the Tomb Raider cast includes Sigourney Weaver (known for Alien), Jason Isaacs (from White Lotus), and Celia Imrie (from Celebrity Traitors). The forest setting and action style seen in the video connect directly to previous leaks. Tomb Raider is one of Prime Video's major upcoming projects, but the streaming platform has not yet revealed an official release date.
