Sega's Controversial Decisions on Yakuza Kiwami 3 Demo Spark Fan Outcry

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released a demo of Yakuza Kiwami 3 Dark Ties, previewing the remastered Yakuza 3, which originally appeared on the PlayStation 3 in 2009. However, the demo has received largely negative feedback on Steam. Steam users report that the game has been simplified too much, with many criticizing its graphics and character design. Specifically, players dislike the automatic combat mechanics, which they find unchallenging, as well as the poor enemy AI and flawed lighting. Some have said that the textures, combined with the lighting, cause eye strain. The new character designs for Rikiya and Nakahara have also been met with disapproval, and the redesign for Goh Hamazaki has generated considerable criticism. The casting of Teruyuki Kagawa's new actor has led to concern due to the actor's involvement in a sexual harassment scandal. Fans have expressed disappointment that Sega did not consider this controversy when making their casting decision. Sega's decision to discontinue the separately available Yakuza 3 Remastered version, pricing the complete series package at $129 upon the release of Yakuza Kiwami 3, has further fueled fan discontent.
