Epic Games Store Gives Away Styx Series, Including Shadows and Shards of Darkness Deluxe Edition

From January 15th until 11 a.m. ET on January 22nd, Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness Deluxe Edition are available for free on the Epic Games Store. The Styx series, a standout in the assassin genre, originated as a spinoff from the dark fantasy title Of Orcs and Men. The first of these stealthy, RPG-filled adventures set in a grim fantasy world, Styx: Master of Shadows, was released in October 2014. In this infiltration game with RPG elements, players control Styx, a goblin over 200 years old, as he navigates the shadows of the towering Tower of Akenash to uncover his origins and get rich. Most have abandoned the tower, save for Elves and Humans who protect the World Tree. The sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness Deluxe Edition, was released on March 14, 2017. Both games feature Styx, an intelligent goblin who can perform traditional assassin tasks (like setting traps) and use magical abilities (like cloning himself). Saul Jephcott, who also appeared in Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls, voices Styx. In related news, the franchise is expected to return next month with Styx: Blades of Greed, which is set to launch on February 19, 2026.
