Sex Scenes in Dispatch Were Never Cut
Despite initial rumors, the absence of explicit content in Dispatch isn't due to edits or censorship—it was a creative decision made due to financial constraints during development.

Unplanned Sex Scenes in Dispatch Never Materialized
Dispatch, a narrative adventure game released in 2025, has become a major indie success, generating considerable discussion. Some of this has centered on rumored sex scenes cut from the game by AdHoc Studio. Writer Pierre Shorette's revelation about these scenes led to community requests for their completion and inclusion. However, in a recent conversation with Eurogamer, Shorette and director Nick Herman clarified that while sex scenes were considered, they never progressed beyond initial planning. Therefore, no such scenes were created. Hopes were sparked by code suggesting a romantic encounter at the protagonist's house. However, Herman explained that this was simply an unrealized idea, not a scene that was cut or abandoned. The primary reason was budgetary constraints. A scene in episode 6, which initially ended with a planned sex scene, would have significantly increased the episode's length. "We probably removed 80 pages from the game," said Herman, "It was a lot of writing that had to be cut down to something we could produce."
Budget Constraints Force Cuts in Dispatch Production and Financial Challenges Faced by Creators
Both Shorette and Herman confirmed that these scenes never advanced beyond initial drafts; no frames or animations were produced. Shorette stated, "Whatever was done is in the game we released," emphasizing that financial limitations forced them to cut the plot during the writing phase. Like AdHoc Studio, other creators face limitations. India's film industry, for example, faces challenges due to political interference in film censorship. Leaked data indicates that the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are influenced by political agendas, leading filmmakers to self-censor politically sensitive content to avoid government backlash. Netflix has reportedly put a project titled Tees on hold indefinitely due to a political controversy surrounding a web series. Finally, Dispatch is now part of a significant $1 billion licensing agreement between Disney and OpenAI. Shorette and Herman also mentioned that they approached several publishers to fund Dispatch, but ultimately had to make cuts before pre-production due to lack of funding.
