Hollow Knight Expansion Sea of Sorrow Launches in 2026 with Free DLC & Game Updates Across Platforms

Following the successful launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong, developer Team Cherry has announced a free DLC expansion titled Sea of Sorrow, scheduled for release in 2026. The teaser trailer shows Hornet standing on a rock amidst crashing waves, hinting at the expansion’s nautical theme and promising an exciting new adventure. In addition to the DLC, Team Cherry is developing an enhanced version of the original Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2, also expected in 2026. This update will be free for existing Hollow Knight owners on Switch, visually aligning the game with the Switch 2 edition of Silksong. The update incorporates improvements from Silksong, such as higher frame rates, higher resolutions, and enhanced graphical effects. These enhancements will also be added to all versions of Hollow Knight, starting with a public beta on Steam and GOG for PC players, which includes support for 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios.
