We are 12 days away from the release of Black Myth Wukong, and Chinese studio Game Science has announced the release of a ‘final trailer’ that lasts 4 minutes and 45 seconds, showcasing several aspects. Beyond Sun Wukong’s impressive skills, it highlights his various transformations. To date, the studio has revealed only a few metamorphoses; however, given that in the novel our Monkey King can transform at will, seeing him assume other animal forms reassures us about the respect for the original material. In the video, we observe that Sun Wukong gains new powers by defeating bosses he encounters on his journey. Indeed, some new abilities are featured in this final trailer, along with equally impressive character design, reminding us that the game will include 80 bosses and 160 different enemy types. The video also underscores narration, an important element of the game, which was criticized for being too cryptic or anecdotal in recent titles like Elden Ring.
The release of Black Myth Wukong is scheduled for August 20, 2024, on PC and PlayStation 5. The Xbox version has been delayed due to adaptation issues on the platform, likely caused by the lower performance capabilities of the Xbox Series S.
