A few days after receiving significant attention during the State of Play event on January 31, 2024, Rise of the Ronin made an unexpected return to media coverage through a new lengthy video, nearly 10 minutes long. This provides Team Ninja’s developers with an opportunity to share their intentions for this title. They describe it as the “most important and ambitious project” from both the Japanese studio and its publisher KOEI Tecmo, known for producing titles with clearly defined structures. By opting for an open-world setting alongside a game featuring a substantial narrative set during the Bakumatsu era, Rise of the Ronin is designed to attract a global audience. It comes as no surprise that the musical aspect was entrusted to Inon Zur, who has contributed to major games such as the Fallout series, SoulCalibur V, Dragon’s Dogma, Microids’ Syberia series, and Dragon Age. He will compose a Western-inspired melody played with Japanese and Asian instruments.
