This was tonight’s scheduled meeting: a State of Play dedicated entirely to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is set for release soon. Given the exclusivity of this content for PS5, Sony Interactive Entertainment understands the need to promote the product well. The result is an almost 19-minute presentation highlighting the extensive effort put into this remake, five years after the release of its first part. Square Enix has also planned new features and, most importantly, significant changes compared to the original work released in 1997 on the original PlayStation. Additionally, the video revealed new environments that are increasingly lavish and distinct from Midgard’s cold, industrial atmosphere. This provides an opportunity to see how interconnected these regions will be with each other and the various methods of travel: by foot or by Chocobo, now capable of flying.
The battles in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth of 2024 are once again detailed, featuring numerous epic sequences to impress players, while smaller activities like attracting a chicken add variety to the gameplay experience. The game also includes an extensive number of mini-games beyond those from the original 1997 release, designed to engage players and keep them immersed in this reimagined world. During the State of Play presentation, music was highlighted as another key feature, with the game set to include no fewer than 400 tracks, providing plenty of enjoyment even after completing the main adventure.
The playable demo is currently available on PS5 and occupies approximately 48GB of space. An update for this demo is scheduled to be released on February 21st. It is unclear at this time how much data will be required for the full game, which is also set for release on the same date.
