A year and a half after its announcement by Bernard Werber on his Facebook page, and 10 months following the release of initial images, Microids’ video game “The Ants” has been unveiled through its first gameplay video. This marks an opportunity to see the graphics of this title running on Unreal Engine 5, making it the first such entry in Microids’ catalog. Developed by Tower Five studio, which handled a significant update for XIII after its poor initial reception, “The Ants” blends elements of real-time strategy games with hints of Pikmin and offers an immersive exploration into a microscopic ecosystem deep within Fontainebleau Forest. Players will take on the role of one ant among many in a colony striving to survive in what is likely an unforgiving environment. One specific character, the 103,683rd ant, will be controlled as they work tirelessly to support their colony. The game promises strategic battles involving various insect species such as ladybugs, cicadas, snails, and other ant types. “The Ants” is set for release in 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
