The Brazil Communication Company (EBC) will host the National Public Communication Network (RNCP) 2026 meeting on May 18th and 19th in the Funarte Sidney Miller room at the Gustavo Capanema building in Rio de Janeiro. The event, exclusive to 330 network members, will gather representatives from public radio and TV stations nationwide to foster institutional cooperation, exchange experiences, and develop strategies that strengthen public communication in Brazil. EBC, a federal public company adhering to principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability as defined in its creation law, operates with societal input. Its assets include TV Brasil, Radio Nacional AM and FM, Radio MEC, Radioagencia Nacional, and the National Network of Public Communication (RNCP), along with various online portals. EBC also provides government communication services through the TV NBR channel and the “A Voz do Brasil” radio show. EBC’s radio station holdings include: Radio Nacional AM RJ (1.130 Khz) Radio Nacional AM de Brasilia (980 Khz) Radio Nacional FM de Brasilia (96,1 MHz) Radio Nacional da Amazonia OC (11.780 KHz and 6.180 Khz) Radio Nacional AM do Alto Solimoes (670 Khz) Radio Nacional FM do Alto Solimoes (96.1 MHz)

Radio MEC AM do Rio de Janeiro (800 Khz) MEC FM do Rio de Janeiro (99,3 Mhz) In September 2016, a provisional measure altered EBC’s public status by abolishing its Curator Council, extending the director-president’s term, and increasing government involvement in its administration council, potentially reducing the company’s independence. The official invitation to the RNCP meeting, signed by EBC’s General Director David Butter, emphasizes that the event aims to refine the public communication ecosystem and encourage the exchange of best practices among stations. Stations that preregister (required) are responsible for their own travel and participation costs and can present successful cases, editorial experiences, management models, innovation projects, and collaborative practices that contribute to the RNCP’s development. Proposals should be submitted at registration, following the guidelines in the enclosed letter to affiliates. Following the RNCP meeting, from May 20th to 22nd, the Gustavo Capanema Building will also host the 7th National Radio Symposium, organized by EBC through Radio Nacional in partnership with Intercom’s Radio and Sound Media Research Group. The public is invited to the event, which celebrates Radio Nacional’s 90th anniversary—a milestone in Brazilian broadcasting. Under the theme “Radio Nacional 90 Anos: Memory, Innovation, and Future of Sound Media,” the symposium will gather researchers, students, professionals, and experts to discuss contemporary challenges facing radio, its social role, aesthetic and technological evolution, and possible paths for the future of sound media within an increasingly platformized environment driven by artificial intelligence and new listening formats. Registration is free and open until May 15th, 2026.
