Bandai Namco has officially announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, set to launch on February 14, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will be set in the Thousand Years Era, drawn from Dragon Ball Online. This period occurs centuries after the manga's events, offering developers greater creative freedom. Players will control an avatar from another world who arrives in this new timeline. The game will feature West City not only as a hub but as a central location for a simulated daily life experience, complete with side activities, NPC interactions, and student life elements.

Character creation returns, with race selection now playing a crucial role. Saiyan avatars will retain their iconic transformations and powers, while Earthling characters will possess unique abilities to compensate. The new Soul Assist system allows players to team up with legendary characters for combined attacks. The core combat mechanics will be familiar to Xenoverse fans but enhanced with new features, such as a posture system designed to briefly stun opponents for offensive opportunities. Boss battles are also expected to be more challenging, with enemies featuring distinct movesets. During a recent demo, a fight against Broly from Dragon Ball Super was showcased, highlighting smoother animations, faster combos, and the ability to briefly control legendary characters like Trunks and Vegeta through the Soul Assist system, even while using a personalized avatar.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3: Open-World Action RPG Evolution

Bandai Namco intends to evolve the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series into a full-fledged action RPG. This evolution includes open-world city exploration, simulated daily life, character relationship building, extensive avatar customization, and new leveling mechanics, moving beyond the franchise's traditional fighting game focus.
