Nintendo has announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a new installment in the casual sports series for the Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch this October. The game revisits Wuhu Island, a setting known from games like Wii Sports Resort. The announcement trailer showcased the series’ signature relaxed atmosphere, alongside a significant expansion of its sports offerings. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will include 12 sports: Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising, and Prop Plane. A Jump Rope minigame will also be available as a warm-up activity. New to the Nintendo Switch Sports series are Skateboarding and Thumb Wrestling. Controls for some activities have been detailed: Skateboarding uses motion controls, Thumb Wrestling requires holding a single Joy-Con upright, and the Prop Plane minigame involves tilting for movement. While a complete list of included sports has been revealed, some activities from previous titles, such as Sword Dueling, Frisbee, Cycling, and Canoeing, will not be featured in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. However, fan favorites like Basketball and Power Cruising from Wii Sports Resort have returned.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026. The game is available for digital pre-order now at $49.99. This new title serves as a follow-up to Wii Sports Resort, which itself was a sequel to the original Wii Sports. The previous entry, Nintendo Switch Sports, released in 2022 and was reviewed by IGN with a score of 7/10, noted as a strong party game but lacking depth.
