Nintendo Announces Xenoblade Genesis for Switch 2 in Trailer

During a recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo unveiled “Xenoblade Genesis,” a new chapter in the Xenoblade series. The game is directed by Tetsuya Takahashi and features music composed primarily by Yoko Shimomura, with contributions from Mariam Abounnasr, Aimi Kiyota, and the chorus group Anuna. Yasunori Mitsuda and Minami Kiyota are also credited with composing the game’s music. Character designs are provided by Mai Yoneyama and PALOW. “Xenoblade Genesis” is an upcoming role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft. and published by Nintendo, scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. This title marks Monolith Soft.’s return to the RPG series with a new adventure. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer showcasing a new world, original characters, and the series’ signature tone. While specific story details remain scarce, “Xenoblade Genesis” is notable as the first original game in the series announced for the new console. In addition to the new entry, the presentation confirmed that the “Xenoblade Chronicles” trilogy will receive enhanced versions for the Nintendo Switch 2, featuring graphical improvements, 4K resolution, and 60 frames per second performance. These updated versions are already available in some markets as the Nintendo Switch 2’s catalog continues to expand.

Xenoblade Genesis Journeys into High-Fantasy ‘Anima’, Prequel to Mainline Games – Switch 2 Release Dates for Xenoblade Chronicles Series

“Xenoblade Genesis” shifts from the series’ typical science fiction aesthetic to a high-fantasy setting referred to as “Anima.” The game is set in a location called Leukos and is suggested to function as a prequel to the mainline games. Enhanced versions of the “Xenoblade Chronicles” series for the Nintendo Switch 2 are now available. Digital editions for “Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition” can be purchased today, with physical copies releasing on July 30th. “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” will also be available digitally on July 30th, while its physical edition launches on October 1st. “Xenoblade Chronicles 3” will be released both digitally and physically on December 3rd, 2026.
