PlayStation Studios CEO Herman Hulst has announced that Sony will cease releasing single-player, narrative-driven games on PC. This significant shift in strategy, confirmed by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, means these titles will henceforth be exclusive to PlayStation consoles. This decision marks the end of a six-year practice for Sony, which had seen titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War released on PC, generating over $2 billion since 2020. Schreier, who had previously reported on Sony’s potential plans to move away from PC releases in March, noted that recent single-player exclusives such as Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel’s Wolverine will not be coming to PC. Titles like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora may represent the last single-player PlayStation games to receive PC ports. The only exceptions to this new exclusivity rule will be games designed with multiplayer or “games as a service” models. Examples of such titles that will continue to launch on multiple platforms include Marathon and Helldivers 2.
