LEGO Unveils SEGA Genesis Console Set, Bringing Retro Gaming to Brick Form The LEGO Group and SEGA are set to launch a new collector’s item for fans of vintage gaming and construction toys: the SEGA Genesis Console set (40926). This detailed model, inspired by the iconic 1991 console, will be available starting June 1, 2026. The SEGA Genesis Console set allows for customization, enabling builders to recreate either the SEGA Genesis or the SEGA Mega Drive versions. It includes detachable controllers and decorative stickers to enhance the authenticity. A notable feature is a game cartridge for the Genesis, complete with a Sonic the Hedgehog theme, echoing the original game. While the controllers may not match the sleekness of previous LEGO game-related releases, the set boasts a hidden Sonic Easter egg within the console itself. Patrik, a LEGO Group designer, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Twenty-seven years later, the love for the console remains strong. Recreating the intricate details and curves of the console with LEGO pieces was a rewarding challenge.”

Alex Gomez, Vice President of Licensing and Partnerships at Sega of America, Inc., commented on the collaboration: “We believe this is a build experience that captures both the heritage of Sega’s games and the playful creativity of LEGO play. The Sega Genesis holds a special place in players’ hearts and represents a significant era in video game history.” The SEGA Genesis Console set comprises 479 pieces and is priced at USD 39.99. When assembled, the console measures over 1.5 inches (4 cm) high, 6 inches (16 cm) wide, and 4.5 inches (12 cm) deep. The detachable controllers are approximately 1 inch (2 cm) high, 3 inches (8 cm) wide, and 9.5 inches (24 cm) deep. This new LEGO set offers fans a chance to relive nostalgic memories and engage with SEGA’s legacy through creative building.
