According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Lana Del Rey will perform “First Light,” the main theme song for the James Bond game, 007 First Light, scheduled for release on May 27, 2026. The game’s developer, Danish studio Io Interactive, made the announcement on Thursday. Del Rey co-wrote and composed “First Light” with British composer David Arnold, who previously contributed to the soundtracks for Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Quantum of Solace (2008), among other films in the Bond franchise. Arnold stated that working with Del Rey was a pleasure and that she “brings a truly unique touch to the music,” adding his hope that the collaboration would introduce Bond to a new audience. The track is already available on streaming platforms, including Lana Del Rey’s YouTube channel. This contrasts with Del Rey’s previous experience of having a track rejected by Bond film producers. The song begins slowly, building to a larger chorus with orchestral backing. Notably, Joss Stone performed the theme song for 2010’s James Bond 007: Blood Stone, and Mya’s “Everything or Nothing” was featured in the 2004 game of the same name. Del Rey now joins this legacy of artists contributing to the Bond universe.

007 First Light centers on a 26-year-old James Bond’s recruitment by MI6 and his acquisition of 00 status. Io Interactive reported on Tuesday that this is the first video game featuring the British spy since 2012’s 007 Legends, with over four million users already adding it to their wishlists. In December, the developers at IO Interactive announced a two-month delay to allow for additional polishing before its release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch release is planned for summer 2026. Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) will star as James Bond, while Lenny Kravitz will play the main villain, Bawma. Gemma Chan (Transformers: The Last Knight, Crazy Rich Asians, Captain Marvel) joins the cast as Selina Tan, a key MI6 figure. Other major music stars who have performed main themes for James Bond films include Billie Eilish (“No Time To Die,” 2020), Adele (“Skyfall,” 2012), and Madonna (“Die Another Day,” 1999). At launch, the title will allow players to take on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond seeking to earn his License to Kill.
