After nearly two decades of resisting a big-screen adaptation of its flagship franchise, Activision is proceeding with development of a Call of Duty movie. Paramount Pictures and Activision officially announced at CinemaCon that the live-action film is slated for release on June 30, 2028. The studios have enlisted top-tier talent to ensure the project’s success. Peter Berg (The Survivor) will direct and co-write the script with Taylor Sheridan (creator of Yellowstone and writer of Sicario). The production team also includes David Glasser from 101 Studios and Activision president Rob Kostich. Paramount CEO David Ellison acknowledged the challenge of adapting such a large franchise and stated that the studio aims to apply the same level of rigor and quality seen in Top Gun: Maverick. Berg showcased a sizzle reel for Call of Duty at CinemaCon. The title for the new Call of Duty movie was revealed in May 2023. Following its exclusive 45-day theatrical run, the film is expected to be available on Paramount+.
