Physical Copies of Crimson Desert Still Not Working
Despite some initial technical hurdles, Pearl Abyss is working diligently to ensure all players can enjoy Crimson Desert, starting simultaneously at designated times across various locations.

Despite the planned March 19, 2026, launch of Crimson Desert, players reported being unable to access the game at the start of the day. Pearl Abyss is implementing a staggered release, granting access to all players simultaneously at a specific time. Throughout the early hours of launch day, players reported issues with both digital and physical copies of Crimson Desert. Some found that even after installing the game from a physical disc, an internet connection was required for a mandatory update exceeding 40GB. In effect, players with physical copies are dependent on Pearl Abyss's servers to even begin playing. This staggered launch, where players gain access at the same time regardless of location, is set for 10 PM in Portugal Continental time, or 8 PM in Sao Paulo. Digital edition owners are unaffected by this requirement. RedbullColas reports that Pearl Abyss did not provide console review copies for Crimson Desert. Furthermore, some users report that their physical discs are not working. According to these reports, dev kits may be delivered directly to reviewers and influencers. To date, there have been no reports of ray tracing being available on the Xbox Series S version.
Unusual Launch Timeframe Affects Physical Copies of Crimson Desert on Xbox
The situation—holding a physical copy of the game on launch day, yet being unable to play until a specific unlock time—has struck some players as unusual. One user, uRichMonth2207, posted on Reddit's CrimsonDesert forum, asking if they would have to wait for the unlock time in their country, even after purchasing the physical Xbox version.
