Elevated Knights of Clear Obscurity Expedition 33 - Pioneers in Gaming and Arts Honored by Rachida Dati

The success of Clear Obscurity Expedition 33 has earned its creators a prestigious honor. Rachida Dati, France's Culture Minister, appointed the Montpellier-based studio, along with Sandfall Interactives founders Guillaume Broche, Tom Guillermin, and Francois Meurisse, as Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters on February 5, 2026. These achievements—including over 5 million copies of Clear Obscurity Expedition 33 sold and nine Game Awards, a first for a French game to win Game of the Year—have set a new benchmark. The game's soundtrack has become a global phenomenon, achieving hundreds of millions of online streams, and the team is embarking on a tour following sold-out concerts in Paris, Lyon, and Montpellier. "I hope our journey inspires all those game designers, artists, programmers, and musicians out there who’ve been told their ideas don’t fit market standards," said Guillaume Broche, Creative Director at Sandfall Interactives, regarding the award. This recognition highlights the studio's significant impact on the gaming industry and its power to inspire innovation.
