Dive back into the world of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Classic, remastered in 2025 with Unreal Engine. Despite initial apprehensions about changes, you'll find enhanced gameplay experiences, including improved combat and camouflage mechanics, all while preserving the classic top-down style from its debut in 1987.

Remake's Third-Person Perspective and Enhanced Camouflage Elevate Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater (2025)

After spending 40 hours with the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake on Unreal Engine, editor Pedro Zambarda revisited his initial impressions of the game, citing the advancements in its third-person mode as a significant improvement. The remake is expected to release in 2025. According to Zambarda, Metal Gear Solid 3 and its Delta version retain the scenarios, characters, and locations of the 2004 original. He noted that the third-person perspective allows players to quickly eliminate enemies without requiring precise aim. In close combat, shots typically defeat or tranquilize opponents. Apart from this enhancement, the gameplay retains the classic MGS style from 1987, before the series adopted an open-world format with MGS V: The Phantom Pain. Zambarda found that the third-person mode particularly simplified boss encounters. Zambarda also pointed out improvements to the camouflage system in the 2025 remake. Unlike the original 2004 version by Hideo Kojima, where navigating the camouflage menus was cumbersome, players can now instantly change outfits using the D-pad. This enables seamless blending, enhances stealth gameplay, and makes it easier for players to remain undetected.
