Saw 11 to Return to Origins of Terror

Revisiting Jigsaw's Legacy: Saw 11 Embraces the Original Terror's Core

James Wan and Leigh Whannell are focusing on the central elements of the Saw franchise to make Saw 11 a success, particularly Jigsaw's importance. Wan told Bloody Disgusting, "We're not giving too much away, but we think you can't have a Saw movie without Jigsaw. That's our take on it." Wan said they want to revisit what he and Whannell loved about the first film: Jigsaw's philosophy and what drives him. Wan also clarified that Saw 11 will not be like Spiral, in which the main villain was absent. He expressed his dissatisfaction with Whannell's decision to kill off Jigsaw. Whannell defended his choice, stating that Jigsaw was beyond redemption and he had no reservations about writing him out. However, because Wan believes Jigsaw is essential for creating a constant sense of danger in the Saw films, Jigsaw will likely return in Saw 11.
