Forza Horizon 6 Unveiled with Release Date Set for PC, Xbox Series, and PS5

At this year's Xbox event, Playground Games previewed Forza Horizon 6 and announced its release on May 19 for PC and Xbox Series X|S; a PlayStation 5 version will follow later in 2026. According to Design Director Torben Ellert, Forza Horizon 6 departs from previous installments, casting players as an unranked tourist in Japan who rises through the ranks at the Horizon Festival. This new approach aims to broaden the game's appeal beyond traditional car enthusiasts. Playground Games calls Japan the series' most stunning destination, showcasing mountains, neon-lit cities, and scenic coastal routes. Rather than a direct recreation, the team captured the essence of Japan in a streamlined open world, allowing players to experience its atmosphere while performing stunts such as launching supercars off cliffs, according to Ellert. The diverse map features Tokyo suburbs with detailed telephone wires, an industrial port with numerous cranes, and iconic locations like the Ginkgo-lined avenue, Imperial Gardens, and Tokyo Tower, all optimized for Horizon’s open-world gameplay.

Forza Horizon 6: Discovering Japan's Culture Through Car Collecting and Local Guides

Japanese culture is integrated into the game beyond its visual setting. Players are joined by Jordy, a car aficionado, and Mei, a local expert serving as a guide. Kyoko Yamashita served as a consultant to ensure authentic cultural representation. Inspired by Japanese seal collecting, the game includes a Collection Journal for players to mark notable locations. Car meets are updated to highlight Japanese automotive culture, allowing players to interact, explore designs, and acquire vehicles. Forza Horizon 6 will launch with over 550 cars, the most in the series. Forza Horizon 6 arrives on May 19, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Players with early access via special editions can begin playing on May 15. The PlayStation 5 release is slated for later in 2026. With its combination of stunning environments and dynamic gameplay, Forza Horizon 6 offers an immersive experience.
