Since its announcement, the PC performance of Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled for release in February 2025, has been a significant concern for potential buyers. Nearly a year later, Capcom is still addressing these issues, but one player claims to have found a simple solution. Reddit user deTylmarande, known for previously helping Capcom resolve a performance error in Dragon's Dogma 2, shared their discovery on the Monster Hunter subreddit. According to deTylmarande, tests on their Steam account revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds performs better when using an account with more DLC installed. DeTylmarande explains that Capcom's aggressive DLC verification process, which frequently checks for installed DLC, inadvertently impacts game performance. By eliminating these checks with a mod, deTylmarande observed performance gains ranging from 45–75%. The mod is still under development and not yet recommended for public testing, but it appears to benefit midrange hardware the most. To address performance drops caused by these frequent checks, deTylmarande created a mod that tricks the game into thinking all DLC is present, even if it is not. Digital Foundry is investigating the issue further, according to reports.

Separately, Praydog recently updated REFramework to address stuttering issues related to the game's anti-tampering technology. In April 2025, a texture decompressor tool was also released to reduce stuttering from the game's real-time decompression process. DeTylmarande has shared these findings with Capcom and awaits an official response and an update with performance improvements.
