Release Date for Gears of War: E-Day Updated

Gears of War: E-Day - Emergence Begins in 2026

Gears of War: E-Day remains one of the most anticipated games. Xbox and the development team have confirmed the prequel, exploring Emergence Day and the Locust Horde's devastating emergence, will arrive in 2026. The initial announcement was made at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024, with a trailer that showcased the game's graphics engine. Since then, however, very little has been revealed, with no gameplay footage released. Fan-favorite characters will return, with John DiMaggio (Futurama) and Carlos Ferro reprising their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dominic "Dom" Santiago. The narrative takes place 14 years before the first Gears of War, following Marcus and Dom as young soldiers in the Coalition of Ordered Governments, and will feature a new city called Kalona. Despite the long wait for news, the official Gears of War social media accounts posted a message on December 12, 2025, reaffirming the 2026 release window for Gears of War: E-Day: > Emergence Begins. 2026. > > https://twitter.com/GearsofWar/status/1734684949918644538 Notably, no sneak peeks of the upcoming Gears of War prequel were shown at The Game Awards in December 2025.
