Star Wars: Galactic Racers - Rebuilding the Outer Rim with Burnout Talent

Fuse Games, a studio founded in 2023 by former co-founders and lead developers from Criterion Games, has announced Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a thrilling new racing game set in the Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy. The game unfolds after the Empire's downfall, a period when the galaxy is rebuilding and the Galactic Leagues have emerged as an underground racing circuit. Syndicates fund the racing circuit, fueling the mayhem as racers compete to become champions. First announced at The Game Awards 2025, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is developed by a team of ex-developers from Burnout and Need for Speed, led by Matt Webster, formerly of Criterion. Publisher Secret Mode aims to release the game in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Webster says players will make significant, game-changing decisions as they work their way up to become elite racing pilots. Players will encounter Shade, a lone racer who dreams of glory and revenge, race against rivals, visit new planets, and learn to handle various classes of repulsor craft or speeders.

Galactic Racer will feature mechanics from the roguelike genre, making it a run-based racing title. Each world offers unique challenges, with branching routes, different environments, and risky choices that keep every run fresh. Race tracks include one reminiscent of Jakku, and players can look forward to the inclusion of Sebulba, from The Phantom Menace. Players will compete in high-risk races to survive in the Galactic League, customizing their vehicles with various parts to suit their playstyle. The game will feature both solo and multiplayer modes, with rewards and incentives to play. Secret Mode describes Star Wars: Galactic Racer as an ambitious and innovative experience, adding dramatic and adventurous elements to the racing genre, reinventing it with spectacular scenes, adventure, and high adrenaline.
