Tomb Raider Returns with Remake of First Game and Untold Adventure Set in India

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis & Catalyst India Unveiled in 2025

Crystal Dynamics has announced two new Tomb Raider games: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the original 1996 game, and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, an all-new installment in the series. Both titles were revealed at The Game Awards 2025, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis slated for release in 2026 and Tomb Raider: Catalyst expected in 2027. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, developed in Unreal Engine 5, reimagines Lara Croft’s first adventure with modern gameplay and updated graphics. The remake expands the original narrative and features iconic locations such as Peru, Greece, Egypt, and a hidden Mediterranean island. Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a collaboration between Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics, is set in Northern India and features a new look for Lara Croft. In contrast to the remake’s more linear approach, Catalyst offers expansive areas, non-linear exploration, and emergent discoveries. The story centers on a mysterious event that awakens ancient forces. Alix Wilton Regan will provide the voice and motion capture for Lara Croft in both games. In addition to the games, Amazon is expanding the Tomb Raider universe with a live-action TV series starring Sophie Turner. According to Fellowship Entertainment's Amos, two teams are developing the games simultaneously.
