Marvel's Fantastic Four Falls Short on Disney+ Debut

Fantastic Four: First Steps, which premiered in theaters in July and on Disney+ on November 5, has become the lowest-performing Marvel Studios film release on the streaming service. According to viewership numbers shared by Nielsen, the film was watched for 556 million minutes in its first five days—equaling 4.9 million complete views. This trails behind The Marvels (5.3 million), Captain America: Brave New World (6.4 million), and Thunderbolts (5.5 million). Previously, Black Widow held the record for the poorest Disney+ Marvel debut, with 5.1 million complete views. The viewing data also revealed new details about Fantastic Four: First Steps: Ralph Ineson plays Galactus, and Sue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, gets injured. However, Pedro Pascal is not featured as Reed Richards. By comparison, earlier Marvel releases, such as Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Eternals, had stronger debuts. Eternals, for example, garnered over 9 million complete views in its first five days, a figure that highlights the significant decline in viewership for Marvel's more recent streaming releases.
