Tomb Raider’s Return at The Game Awards – Catch a Glimpse of the Future!

After more than seven years since the last installment, a new Tomb Raider game will be unveiled at The Game Awards this week, which airs on Thursday, December 11, starting at 9:30 PM. Crystal Dynamics had announced in 2019 that they were developing a new Tomb Raider. Event host Geoff Keighley hinted at the reveal in a message within Fortnite and on X, stating: “Lara Croft returns at The Game Awards.” He added, “As we recently revealed on our voting portal for The Game Awards in Fortnite’s map, tune in Thursday night to catch a glimpse of the future of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, Tomb Raider. You won’t want to miss it.” Although Shadow of the Tomb Raider was released in 2018, development on the sequel began in 2022, when Crystal Dynamics announced they had started creating the game using Unreal Engine 5. Since that announcement, the studio has experienced four rounds of layoffs over the past two years, partly due to the crisis at its parent company, Embracer Group.

Tomb Raider’s Live-Action Series and Remake Announcement at The Game Awards This Week!

In addition to the Tomb Raider news, a cryptic tweet from the official Tomb Raider account on December 11 suggests possible announcements regarding a live-action series and a remake of the 1996 classic Tomb Raider. Amazon will publish the new Tomb Raider game. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received 12 nominations for The Game Awards, the most of any game this year.
