Mysterious Teaser for The Game Awards Not Related to God of War or Diablo

Mysterious Mojave Desert Statue Unveiled in Game Awards Teaser - Unlinked from Diablo or God of War

Geoff Keighley's recent teaser, posted before The Game Awards, continues to generate speculation after fan theories involving Diablo and God of War were debunked. The teaser quickly led internet sleuths to determine that an image of a morbid sculpture, accompanied by the words "Regal Inspiring Thickness," represented coordinates within the What3words system. This system translates latitude and longitude into easily memorized word combinations. Entering the phrase into What3words revealed a location near a road in California's Mojave Desert. Within hours, people visited the site and confirmed the statue's existence, also noting that it is illuminated at night. The statue depicts human figures, demons, dragons, and a calcified crocodile, leading some fans to believe it was related to the Diablo franchise. Others hoped it might herald news about God of War. However, Cory Barlog, Santa Monica Studio Director, confirmed on Luke Stephens's livestream that the teaser is not related to God of War, and Bloomberg's Jason Schreier also dismissed claims that it was connected to a Diablo IV expansion.

Mysterious Game Awards Statue Links to FromSoftware Announcement, Not Lords of the Fallen 2 or Half-Life 3 (The Game Awards 2025)

Marek Tyminski, creator of Lords of the Fallen, tweeted on December 7, 2025, that the statue is unrelated to Lords of the Fallen 2. Tyminski added that he and CI Games believe the statue hints at an upcoming announcement from FromSoftware. He also suggested that news regarding both the original Lords of the Fallen and its sequel would be revealed at The Game Awards. The fact that the closest road is named Yucca Mesa Road even led to speculation about Half-Life 3, referencing the Black Mesa organization—though the statue's aesthetic does not align with the Half-Life series. "I'm not going to reveal what it is, sorry, but it's something good," Schreier commented. The mystery finally will be solved at The Game Awards 2025, which will be broadcast on December 11th from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, starting at 9:30 PM Brasilia time.
