Halo Receives a Remake Bringing the Franchise to PS5

Halo’s PlayStation Debut with Evolved Remake, Unveiled for 2026

Following numerous rumors, Microsoft announced a remake of the first Halo game, titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, during last Friday’s Halo World Championships. Set for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, this marks Halo’s debut on the PlayStation platform, with Brian Jarrard of Halo Studios confirming that all future Halo games will also be available on Sony consoles. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature enhanced graphics and refined controls. In addition, players can expect new content, including unseen cinematics, new maps, and a new mission arc featuring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson set before the events of the original game. While the remake focuses exclusively on the single-player campaign, it will support local split-screen co-op (two players on consoles) and online co-op for up to four players. Alongside the remake, Microsoft has confirmed multiple new Halo games are in development and scheduled for release in October 2024. According to reports, a live service game similar to Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite may launch alongside these new titles.
