Massive Controversy Erupts and Gamers Are Fed Up with Nintendo Switch 2

Controversial Pricing Stirs Up Fan Backlash in Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy Two-Pack Announcement

Nintendo's recent annual back-to-school conference, held last Friday, typically serves as a platform for major announcements. This year, however, specific details revealed during the event sparked considerable online controversy among players. The conference's September 12 Direct featured several upcoming Mario games as part of a celebration marking the character's 40th birthday. The event announced a Super Mario Galaxy two-pack, but its revealed price of €69.99, set for release on October 2, 2025, quickly drew criticism. Fans pointed out that this two-game pack was €10 more expensive than the previous 3D All-Stars collection, which included three games.

Escalating Amiibo Pricing Sparks Widespread Criticism in Nintendo's Latest Announcements

The discontent extends beyond game pricing. Following previous discussions surrounding Pokémon Z-A, the recent conference also touched upon Amiibo accessories for the Switch. Leaked information subsequently revealed specific pricing for several new figures, further escalating player concerns. New Amiibos include three Metroid Prime 4 Beyond figures priced between €30 and €40 each, two Super Mario Galaxy models at approximately €40, and two Kirby Air Ride mini-figures reportedly priced at €50 each. These figures significantly surpass the typical cost of standard Amiibos, which usually range from €12 to €17 (with some special editions reaching €20). Collectors have widely expressed their unhappiness with these elevated prices across social media platforms. Nintendo France has not yet issued a response to these concerns. The widespread criticism over these pricing decisions underscores a growing tension between Nintendo and its player base.
