Keanu Reeves Wants to Return as Johnny Silverhand for Cyberpunk 2

Keanu Reeves Eager to Return as Johnny Silverhand for Cyberpunk 2 Progressing Over Five Years Ahead

Development on Project Orion, the codename for Cyberpunk 2, began in its early stages last June, indicating a significant wait before its release on PC and next-generation consoles. Despite the distant release, fan interest is already high, with Keanu Reeves expressing his enthusiasm. During promotions for Good Fortune, Reeves told IGN he would "absolutely" love to reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand. The decision of Silverhand's return now rests with CD Projekt Red. Project Orion is not expected to launch for at least five to six years. While specific content details remain scarce, a leak from creator Mike Pondsmith suggests the game will explore a "messed-up Chicago." Night City will remain relevant, serving as a side hub or historical reference within the game world. Behind the scenes, CD Projekt Red has already split its development team, with over 60 developers simultaneously working on both The Witcher 4 and Project Orion. This dual focus appears challenging, particularly as the Witcher universe seemingly takes priority.

Keanu Reeves's Potential Return as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2 Could Avert Past Launch Issues and Offer a Substantial Role

If Reeves commits to a substantial role and CD Projekt Red effectively leverages Johnny Silverhand's popularity, this could help avoid a repeat of the 2020 launch issues. Players and Reeves alike anticipate Silverhand having a substantial role, not a minor appearance.
