Spielberg’s Call of Duty Movie Proposal Rejected by Activision, Paramount Takes the Helm for Upcoming Adaptation

Steven Spielberg, a known fan of video games and Call of Duty, proposed a film idea through his production company Amblin. Made in conjunction with Universal’s negotiator Jimmy Horowitz, Activision ultimately rejected the pitch. The company reportedly declined the proposal because it was unwilling to grant Spielberg complete control over the film’s production, editing, and marketing. Following Activision’s decision, Paramount Pictures secured the rights to produce a live-action Call of Duty film. The film is currently in development, but Paramount has not announced details regarding the cast or a release date.
