Peak, an indie game by Aggro Crab Games, has achieved significant success since its PC release. The game garnered over 114,000 concurrent players on Steam and maintains an average user review score exceeding 92%. It has consistently ranked among Valve’s top sellers, a testament to its widespread appeal. However, Peak’s popularity led to the emergence of various copycat titles. One such game, Cliff, is a climbing game on Roblox developed by Pewstudio. Cliff closely mimics Peak’s core mechanics, where a single mistake results in a game over, and both games feature an airport as their main setting. While Pewstudio acknowledges Peak as an inspiration, Cliff appears to be an imitation rather than an original creation. A key difference is Cliff’s inclusion of microtransactions, a feature absent from Peak. This distinction prompted Aggro Crab Games, Peak’s developers, to express a surprising preference: they stated that pirating their game is preferable to playing the Roblox imitation, Cliff, especially given its monetization model.
