New Demo of Virtua Fighter 6 Unveiled at Evo 2026 with Tokyo Game Show Hands-On and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage Console Release Date Announced

Evo 2026 brought significant updates for the Virtua Fighter series last weekend. RGG Studio showcased a new demo of Virtua Fighter 6, revealing more about the game after January’s initial teaser. The demo featured a battle between a character resembling Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant in a simple arena. Although music was absent, the intricate presentation captured the essence of Virtua Fighter. Fans will get their first public hands-on opportunity with Virtua Fighter 6 during a demo at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Alongside this look at the future, Sega also announced the console release date for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage. This title will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 30, 2025. Prior to release, a closed beta test is scheduled for early September. This edition introduces a new single-player “World Stage” mode, where players compete in a global tournament against simulations of renowned international players. The game also supports online play with rollback netcode and cross-platform compatibility.

Virtua Fighter 6 Cross-Platform Updates and DLC Details Revealed

A version for Nintendo Switch is also in development, with its release date yet to be announced. PC players who own Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will receive the R.E.V.O. World Stage content through an automatic update. PlayStation 4 owners of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version of R.E.V.O. World Stage, including all DLC, at a reduced price. Additionally, the legendary boss Dural will be available as DLC for this new version.
