With just a few days until the Game Awards 2024 ceremony, the game Black Myth Wukong receives its first major content update. Feng Ji, co-founder of Game Science and game director for the title, hinted at this update a few weeks ago when the game won the Ultimate Game of the Year award, suggesting surprises to expect before year’s end. This update, version 1.0.12.16581, introduces several new features, most notably a ‘Boss Rush’ mode that allows players to relive the game’s greatest battles. Three difficulty modes are also included, and an additional option lets players face bosses consecutively with customized curses. The patch also includes various fixes, and here is the full list:
Major Updates: New Gameplay Challenge
It’s challenging to face the old rivals again, but the Grand Sage will always prevail!
After completing the game at least once, players referred to as “Chosen” can access “Challenges” in any Guardian Sanctuary. Two types of challenges are available: “Rival’s Return” and “Legend’s Gauntlet”.
New game feature: The Traveler’s Map
Let the traveler’s journey be traced by the map.
A notable character has captured these landscapes, organizing them into maps for guidance and marking. A traveler’s map becomes available when the Destined One enters Black Wind Mountain for the first time and meets the Keeper. Subsequently, for each new territory reached, a “traveler’s map” can be purchased at the Keeper’s sanctuary.
New Equipment: Set of Opulent Armor
As the year draws to a close, we wish all the Destined Ones a joyous Chinese New Year! May you have happiness and prosperity throughout the year.
Four special pieces of armor have been crafted to commemorate the upcoming Chinese New Year. Following installation, all Destined Ones can claim them directly via the “Pioneer’s Gift” at any Guardian sanctuary.

This update addresses several issues affecting specific Yaoguai leaders and mechanics within the game:- A fix for an issue where “The King of the Shifting Sands Realm and his Son” may not drop the spirit of “Second Prince of Rats” upon defeat.- A fix for an unexpected death condition for Queen Yaoguai “Kang-Jin Star” under certain circumstances.- A fix allowing “Zhu Bajie” to be defeated during a particular phase where it was previously unattainable.- A fix for King Yaoguai “Yellow Loong” remaining trapped underground in specific scenarios.- A fix ensuring that some abilities of King Yaoguai “Yellow Loong” can now be interrupted after being detected.- A fix preventing Cloudy Mist and Misty Cloud Yaoguai leaders from continuing to attack players while invisible under certain conditions.- A fix enabling the Lang-Baw-Baw Yaoguai leader to engage in combat under specified circumstances.- A fix correcting abnormal damage inflicted by “Erlang, the Sacred Deity” on the Chosen One through some of his skills.- A fix ensuring that the Chosen One can only battle with “The Four Celestial Kings” in the form of “Stone Monkey” during specific operations.- A fix resolving an issue where the Chosen One could be obstructed by an invisible wall, preventing entry into combat in certain situations.

Fixed an issue preventing Strand Rescue animation from triggering when the talent took effect under specific conditions. Fixed an issue allowing “Bull King’s Mask” to gain Focus even during invincible states (Dodging, Perfect Dodging, or Seeing-Through).

The music library progress bar now supports dragging functionality. Customization options for keyboard and mouse commands now include support for side buttons on mice. An issue has been resolved where the Sprint button icon was not visible in the type B controller layout. A problem has been addressed regarding the inventory interface potentially not displaying content during certain operations. Additionally, a user interface alignment issue under specific operations has been corrected.

Performances
Occasional crashes have been reported by some users after enabling DLSS image generation correction. Screen flickering issues for certain users have been corrected upon activating XeSS. A fix has been implemented for a memory leak issue under specific conditions. Crashes caused by outdated drivers have also been resolved. Performance optimization has been enhanced for numerous scenes and boss battles on mid-range and low-end configurations. Additionally, Full Ray Tracing performance has been improved on GeForce RTX systems.
