Released almost two years ago in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has achieved substantial commercial success, with recent reports indicating that it has surpassed the milestone of 30 million copies sold. Warner Bros Games aims to build on this success, and given that development on a sequel commenced last year, the American publisher has made it a priority. In an interview with Variety, David Haddad (President of Warner Bros. Interactive) stated that this sequel is “one of the biggest priorities” for the company. Additionally, to enhance internal collaboration, developers have ensured that the game’s storyline will intersect with the narratives in the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO Max, which will revisit events from the Harry Potter books and span a decade. It is now conceivable that characters such as Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione could appear in Hogwarts Legacy 2; while players likely won’t be able to play as these characters, their presence as secondary characters during certain missions might generate significant interest in the title. All that remains is to wait with anticipation.
