Four months ago, 2K Games officially announced the return of the Top Spin license after a 13-year hiatus, rekindling hope for a genuinely good tennis game. The wait will be brief as Top Spin 2K25 is set to release on April 26, 2024, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Xbox One. Buyers of the Deluxe or Grand Slam versions can start playing several days early through an anticipated access starting April 23, 2024. This release coincides with the game’s availability on previous-generation machines, as 2K Games aims to maximize sales volume. The release, far from being rushed, is primarily the result of a two-and-a-half-year secretive development period, allowing Hangar 13 to complete their game.
If you are recommended to watch our video preview to learn about the gameplay and new features of Top Spin 2K25, please note that information will be released gradually until the game’s launch. At present, the only professional athletes confirmed to be included in the game are as follows:
Professionals/Pros: ● Roger Federer ● Serena Williams ● John McEnroe ● Andre Agassi ● Steffi Graf ● Carlos Alcaraz ● Iga Świątek ● Frances Tiafoe ● Emma Raducanu ● Coco Gauff
Today’s players will have the opportunity to interact with tennis legends of the past, including Roger Federer, who recently retired and is featured as one of the stars in Top Spin 2K25 alongside Serena Williams, whose image adorns the standard version cover. As expected, users can create their own customizable characters and progress through the rankings by leveling them up. However, this requires completing the Top Spin Academy, which is overseen by John McEnroe. The game has benefited from the input of a former troubled player who has not only lent his voice but also provided valuable advice for its development. Additionally, players can engage in Exhibition mode to compete online or locally in either 1v1 or 2v2 matches.
Regarding the courts, there will be a total of 48, and 2K Games has invested to secure top-quality venues, ranging from the four Grand Slams to less well-known tournaments. Players will have the opportunity to travel, as they can choose between three key moments of the day for their matches.
