Star Wars: Fuse Games Unleashes Arcade-Style Galactic Racer in Trailblazing Clandestine League Circuit

Fuse Games, a studio founded by former Criterion developers from Burnout and Need for Speed, unveiled its first project, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, at The Game Awards. Matt Webster is the CEO of Fuse Games. This racing game features multiple vehicle classes and emphasizes intense combat as players compete to outrace rivals. Surprisingly, the announcement trailer did not include any pod racers. Secret Mode Publishing is publishing the game. The last dedicated Star Wars racing title was 2002’s Star Wars Racer Revenge, which received an HD version on modern platforms in 2022, making Galactic Racer the first new entry in over two decades. The futuristic Star Wars setting aligns with the studio’s expertise in arcade-style racing, known for close calls, dramatic crashes, and slow-motion effects. According to a press release, Star Wars: Galactic Racer will cast players as pilots in the clandestine Galactic League circuit, a dangerous and unregulated racetrack where skilled racers can overtake, maneuver, and take risks. Players will race through iconic and uncharted Star Wars planets, with varied environments and alternative paths ensuring unique races.

Star Wars: Shade vs Kester Galactic Racing Showdown (2026)

The game will feature a story-driven campaign centered on a new narrative. Players will assume the role of Shade, who faces off against their rival, Kester, in races across the Star Wars galaxy. The vehicles, which include podracers, landspeeders, and speeder bikes, will each have unique physics and handling. Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026. Notably, this is the second Star Wars game announced at The Game Awards this year, following the reveal of Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. A remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords is also rumored to be in development, and Quantic Dream is working on Star Wars Eclipse. Galactic Racer will also offer competitive multiplayer gameplay, allowing players to customize vehicles, enhance unlocked abilities after each race, and master a gameplay system that combines racing and action.

According to the CEO of Fuse Games, “For us at Fuse Games, Star Wars has always represented the power of wonder, and races are one of its most exhilarating expressions. With Star Wars: Galactic Racer, we wanted to reinvent what a racing game can be: adventurous, spectacular, and thrilling. We want each race to be vibrant, marked by dynamic choices between risk and reward, and for every victory to be incredible.” This run-based, high-stakes reinvention of racing takes place in the lawless Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy, where the Galactic League operates as an unsanctioned, underground circuit funded by syndicates, where champions are made. Fuse Games is developing Star Wars: Galactic Racer in partnership with Secret Mode and Lucasfilm Games. The game is available to wishlist now.
