Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 in Production with Kai Ikarishi as Director and New Characters on the Horizon
So, the folks at CD Projekt Red, the game developers, have officially confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 is happening. And guess what? Kai Ikarishi is stepping up to direct this new season for the first time ever. This isn’t just cool news for fans—it’s a big deal because Kai actually worked on the first season as an artist. He even helped out on the “Girl on Fire” episode, which is pretty neat. Bartosz Sztybor, one of the show’s main writers, mentioned at Anime Expo that Season 2 probably won’t be about David Martinez. He even joked, “David’s dead,” which I’m sure got a laugh. They even showed off the first poster for the new series right there at the event. Voice actors Emi Lo (who plays Lucy) and Zach Aguilar (who’s David Martinez) were there, along with writer-producer Bartosz Sztybor, director Hiroyuki Imaishi, and the host, TheAnimeMan (you might know him as Joey). The official announcement for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 dropped at Anime Expo 2025. We don’t have a release date yet, but fans at the Peacock Theater panel got a special sneak peek at some new teaser footage behind closed doors. It won’t be a direct continuation of the first story, but get ready to meet some fresh faces in the Night City world.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 A Rawer, Darker, Bloodier Journey of Redemption and Vengeance
Word is, this new season is gonna be sadder, darker, and way more bloody. Still no word on when it’ll hit screens, but fans at the Peacock Theater panel got a private peek at some new teaser footage. The folks behind the show are promising a story that’s rawer, hits harder emotionally, and is pretty violent, all while exploring themes of redemption and vengeance. Kai Ikarishi, who directed “Girl on Fire” (that was episode six of the first series), is taking the director’s chair for this new season. The story throws out a question: When everyone’s so caught up in the flashy stuff, how far do you have to go to make your own story count? Since the first 10-episode series did so well with both fans and critics, it pretty much paved the way for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger are teaming up again, and Netflix will be the one bringing it to your screens. Yup, the creative team is really pushing for a rawer, more emotional, and violent story this time around, focusing on redemption and vengeance. And just to reiterate, Kai Ikarishi, the director of episode six, “Girl on Fire,” from the original series, is directing this new season. Oh, and for all you manga fans out there, they also announced a prequel manga called Madness, which will focus on Becca and Pilar. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that yes, this new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will indeed be on Netflix. So, keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
