Warner Bros. Games is reorganizing its structure to concentrate on four primary franchises: Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and the DC Universe.
As part of the company restructuring, Yves Lachance, currently the head of the Warner Bros. Games Montreal studio, will now lead the teams responsible for developing the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones games. Additionally, Shaun Himmerick, who heads the NetherRealm studio, will oversee the development of Mortal Kombat and DC games.
The changes at Warner Bros. Games began earlier this year with the departure of President David Haddad, who led the company for 12 years. In May, Warner announced it would close three in-house game development studios, including the previously renowned Monolith Productions, and canceled the Wonder Woman game that was in production at Monolith.
The Player First Games studio, creator of MultiVersus, and the WB San Diego studio, which focuses on mobile games, have also been shut down.
The Warner Bros. Discovery group recently announced that it will split into two companies by mid-2026, creating WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks. The two units of Warner Bros. Games will operate within WBD Streaming & Studios.
“Our company houses some of the world’s leading franchises and is currently refining our team structure to focus on developing long-term franchise scripts for Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and DC games to engage their players and fans,” said J.B. Perrette, Global CEO of Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, in an interview with Variety.
We are fortunate to have a strong team of talented developers and technology experts. Yves Lachance, Shaun Himmerick, and Steven are respected leaders with distinguished track records in their respective fields. I am looking forward to working closely with them and the team as we aim to create the best possible games for our key franchises.
