The PlayStation VR2, often criticized for its high price and limited game selection, is now attempting a comeback. In an article posted on the PlayStation Blog, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a reduction in the headset’s price from €599.99 to €449.99, representing a decrease of €150. This adjustment, while significant, still falls short of achieving commercial success. Despite being available for two years, initial sales were met with concerns about performance. According to several analysis firms and industry insiders, the headset struggled to attract a broad audience, raising questions about the viability of virtual reality as a market segment. This is especially true given Apple’s Vision’s lackluster reception in the same period. With such high prices, reaching a wider customer base has proven challenging.
Sony also announces that the PlayStation VR2 + Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle is available for 449.99€, with Guerrilla Games’ game included free when purchasing the headset. The Japanese manufacturer highlights recent titles such as Alien Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, Metro Awakening VR, and upcoming releases like Aces of Thunder, Dreams of Another, Hitman World of Assassination, and The Midnight Walk. It is also noted that the PSVR 2 can be used on PC with a PS VR2 for PC adapter, providing access to the Steam catalog and its thousands of VR games. Are you tempted?
