As Black Myth Wukong continues to break records, China is preparing for its sequel, alongside an ambitious AAA title scheduled for release on PC and PS5 in 2025. This upcoming game, Phantom Blade Zero, was first revealed over a year ago and garnered significant attention at the Summer Game Fest in June of the previous year, further solidifying its presence with a notable appearance at gamescom 2024. The game is playable at the German trade show, and the demo previously showcased highlights the dynamic nature of its gameplay. Creator Soulframe Liang has described Phantom Blade Zero as a “Devil May Cry Kung-Fu Punk,” drawing inspiration from combos characteristic of Devil May Cry while incorporating rapid, hyper-aggressive, and highly choreographed attacks inspired by Wu Xia Pian—a style known for its acrobatic and spectacular martial arts techniques. Similar to Devil May Cry, Phantom Blade Zero will emphasize combo play and the strategic use of various weapons provided to players. Additionally, the game’s creator has mentioned that Phantom Blade Zero will feature an exploration aspect with treasures and chests to uncover. The concept involves exploring the map, enjoying the impressive graphics, and experiencing multiple paths and methods for progressing through the environment.
The release of Phantom Blade Zero is anticipated for 2025 on PC and PS5, with no plans for an Xbox version.
