Two years have passed since there was news about the return of Lollipop Chainsaw on our current consoles through a remake that many were looking forward to. However, those who were hoping for it might be disappointed to learn that it is actually a remaster, as indicated by the first trailer. It is somewhat disappointing when you see the visual results; it appears to involve only basic texture smoothing with outdated animations and underwhelming visual effects. Adding to this disappointment, the original game’s soundtrack has not been updated, and we will receive an entirely new OST because the developers and music rights holders could not agree on financial terms.
The release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is anticipated for September 25, 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Xbox One. Due to financial disagreements between developers and music rights holders, the original game’s acclaimed soundtrack will not be included, resulting in a completely new original soundtrack (OST). The remake is actually a simple remaster with minimal visual upgrades, limited to texture smoothing and retaining outdated animations and effects, which has left many fans feeling let down by the lack of significant improvements or enhancements.
